About the Community Anthology Project
Are you a writer, poet, or storyteller? The Selwyn Public Library invites you to be part of our first-ever Community Anthology Project!
We believe that every voice has a story to tell, and we want to hear yours. This is your chance to share your creativity, experiences, and imagination with the community. We’re collecting short stories, poems, and other creative writings from our patrons to create a unique, collaborative anthology that celebrates the diverse voices within our community.
Submission Guidelines:
- Who Can Submit: Open to all library patrons. Don't have a Selwyn Public Library card? Sign up for one at any of our three library branches - it's free!
- What We’re Looking For: Short stories, poems, essays, and other forms of creative writing. View our detailed submission guidelines here.
- Submissions Deadline: January 29th, 2025
- How to Submit: By email to jclement@mypubliclibrary.ca or through our submissions form. When submitting please note the submission genre (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc.), author's name, penname if applicable, author's age, contact information, and the title of your work. If your submission is chosen for this anthology we will contact you with more information and a permission waiver. Please ensure the contact information you provide us is accurate and up to date. Children under the age of 18 will require permission from a parent/guardian to have their submission included in the anthology.
Whether you’re an experienced writer or trying your hand at storytelling for the first time, we encourage you to submit your work. This is a great opportunity to have your writing published and to contribute to a collective work that will be shared and celebrated within our community.
Selected submissions will be featured in a published anthology, available for checkout at the library and for purchase. All sale proceeds will directly support our libraries, programs and services. Let’s come together to create something beautiful!

Publishing Club FAQ
What is Publishing Club? |
As a member of our Publishing Club, you will work together to make creative decisions regarding the development of a community anthology. Members will assist with developing the creative direction of the anthology, review submissions, and publish the finished work. |
Who can join? |
Any adult patron (18+) of Selwyn Public Library is welcome to join this club. You do not need to have professional experience in writing, proofing or publishing to attend meetings and make impactful contributions. Interested teens 14 and up are welcome to reach out to our Assistant Librarian, Jessica, via email at jclement@mypubliclibrary.ca. |
I am a writer, can I get feedback on my own writing at the meetings? |
Writers are absolutely welcome and encouraged to join the publishing club. There will likely be more than enough time to share your writing with the group at the end of a meeting and gain valuable feedback from others. |
What will the time commitment be like? |
This club will meet once a month (with the exception of December), on a Thursday evening. Meetings will begin at 4PM and run for an hour on average, though members are welcome to extend the meeting at their own discretion for up to one additional hour. Meetings will run from September to March. |
