Lakefield Marina Dock Attendant (Seasonal)

The Township of Selwyn is seeking applications for the seasonal position of Lakefield Marina Dock Attendant, to assist with the daily operations and maintenance of the Lakefield Marina.
The ideal candidate will have at a minimum one year’s experience in a primarily customer service role. Candidates must have the proven ability to handle cash, debit, and credit card payments. Good swimming skills are required. Candidates with lifesaving training and/or certification and current CPR and/or First Aid certification will be preferred. Candidates may be required to obtain a Food Safety Training Certificate if they haven’t already successfully completed a course.
Applicants with knowledge of the Trent-Severn Waterway and the boating / marina industry will be preferred. The individual will be expected to work as a member of a small team, while using initiative and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. The person must demonstrate initiative and possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
The person requires superior interpersonal skills and customer focus and must act professionally in providing service to the public and as a representative of the municipality.
The rate of pay for this position is $18.00/hour and the typical work week will be between 24-35 hours. This position will require candidates to be available for weekend and day & evening shifts throughout the season starting early May through mid-October 2024.

Permit Intake Technician (18-month Contract)

The Township is seeking a Permit Intake Technician for an 18-month contract. In this position, this successful candidate will provide customer service while managing all aspects of the building permit intake and issuance process. This position is also expected to provide preliminary application review for completeness, adherence to all applicable law, including the Ontario Building Code and the Planning Act. The position will provide administrative assistance to the Building Services area and is a member of the Township’s Customer Service and Administrative Support Team.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Technology, or a related field. A minimum of three years related experience in a business or municipal setting will be preferred.
Candidates should be a current member or be willing and ability to become a member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA). This person will have a good understanding of the principles of urban planning, the Township’s Zoning By-laws, Building Code and other relevant legislation. A good working knowledge of personal computers, data base, GIS, AutoCAD and web based mapping software, and word processing programs is required.
The person requires superior interpersonal and customer service skills and must act professionally in providing service to the public and as a representative of the municipality.
The expected hourly wage range for this position is $28.63 to $34.84 per hour based on a 35 hour work week.

Building Official 1 |
The Township is seeking a Building Official 1. In this new position, the successful candidate will provide customer service while managing all aspects of the building permit intake and issuance process. This position is to inspect buildings under construction to ensure compliance and is also expected to provide preliminary application review for completeness, adherence to all applicable law, including the Ontario Building Code Act (OBCAO), its regulations and all other applicable legislation.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in Architecture, Construction, or a related field. A minimum of one year related experience in a business or municipal setting will be preferred.
Candidates should be a current member or willingness and ability to become a member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), as well as be qualified and registered with MMAH in the following categories: General Legal, Small Buildings, HVAC House, Plumbing House. This person will have a good understanding of the principles of urban planning, the Township’s Zoning By-laws, Building Code and other relevant legislation. A good working knowledge of personal computers, data base, GIS, AutoCAD and web based mapping software, and word processing programs is required.

Deputy Chief Building Official |
The Township is seeking a Deputy Chief Building Official. In this position, the successful candidate will perform the duties and responsibilities of a Building Inspector, as defined in the Building Code Act (OBCA), its regulations and all other applicable legislation, and delegated duties and responsibilities of the Chief Building Official (CBO) as defined in the OBCA. This person will also enforce by-laws and act as a By-Law Enforcement Officer.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in Architecture, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, and a minimum of three years construction and/or inspection experience. Candidates holding the C.B.C.O. designation will be preferred.
Candidates should be a current member or willingness and ability to become a member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), as well as be qualified and registered with MMAH in the following categories: General Legal, Small Buildings, Plumbing All Buildings, Large Buildings, Building Services and Building Structural. This person will have a good understanding of the OBS Act and Regulations, the Fire Code, the interpretations of Planning Documents, Property Standards By-law and appliable Federal and Provincial legislation. principles of urban planning, the Township’s Zoning By-laws, Building Code and other relevant legislation.

The Township is seeking an Office Assistant – Summer who will, as a member of the Customer Service & Administrative Support Team, provide general clerical support for the Municipal Office and administrative assistance to the Community & Corporate Services/ Clerk’s Department and other Department Managers as required.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or be enrolled in a related post-secondary program with equivalent experience.
The individual will perform front counter reception duties and provide administrative support to the Manager of Community & Corporate Services/ Clerk, C.A.O., and other Department Managers, while using initiative and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. The person must be flexible, adaptable and possess excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. A proven ability to manage several projects simultaneously is a must.

The present hourly wage for this position is $15.60/ hour (Student rate) / $16.55/hour (General rate) based on a 35 hour work week.

Operations Coordinator - Water & Wastewater |
The Township is seeking an Operations Coordinator - Water & Wastewater to coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the water and wastewater systems to meet the QMS, DWQMS and SDWA standards along with all other related government legislation and Township policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related experience in a similar role, with experience in leading or directing the work of others. Candidates must hold a current Class 2 Water Treatment license, Class 2 Wastewater Treatment license and current Class 2 Wastewater Collection license. Candidates with a Water Meter Installers Certificate will be preferred. The individual will have a good understanding of Ministry of the Environment regulatory requirements in water distribution, water treatment, waste treatment and wastewater collection.
The individual will be expected to oversee and direct the work of others, while using effective leadership, initiative, and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. The person must possess excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. A proven ability to provide quality customer service while providing service to the public as a representative of the municipality is required.
The present hourly wage for this position is $35.39 to $43.05 based on a 40 hour work week.
