Flood Warning issued for the Trent Severn-Waterway

FLOOD WARNING extended for the Trent-Severn Waterway in the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation. Flooding of low-lying, flood-prone areas along the Trent-Severn Waterway is imminent or occurring and expected to worsen as water levels and flows continue to rise.

FLOOD WATCH upgraded from Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety for local watercourses within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation. Flooding of low-lying, flood-prone areas along local watercourses is possible.

Half Load Restrictions

Half-load restrictions in the Township of Selwyn will begin Sunday, March 1, 2026.

To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic. 

During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas. 

Restrictions remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.

Join the Earth Day Litter Clean-Up!

Help keep Selwyn Township clean and beautiful by taking part in the community-wide Earth Day Litter Clean-Up. Gather your family, friends, or community group and help remove litter from roadsides and public spaces across the Township.

Participants who register can pick up cleanup supplies, including clear bags, and nitrile gloves, from the Township Office. Collected garbage and recyclables can then be dropped off free of charge at the Smith Landfill during the designated disposal period.
