5th Annual Lakefield Chocolate Creation Festival

From January 31st to February 18th, participating cafes, restaurants and merchants in Lakefield compete for the title of Best Chocolate Creation.

Categories for judging:

  • Best Drink Item
  • Best Food Item
  • Most Creative Item

Voting and a list of participating locations can be found on the Lakefield Village Lions Club's Facebook and Instagram. Proceeds from every purchase will help support community organizations and families in need.

Fondue Friday (All Day)

Location: Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Fondue Friday kicks off for the 3rd year with authentic swiss cheese fondue and wine features, just in time to warm you up as the colder weather rolls in. Perfect for sharing with family and friends, and also a great date night choice!

PolarFest Youth Shinny (9:00AM to 12 Noon)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

  • 9-10am - ages 9 and under
  • 10-11am - ages 10 to 13
  • 11-12 Noon - ages 13 and older

Cost: $6.00 per player

Non-contact. Full hockey equipment is mandatory. Parental/guardian supervision required while your child is at the Arena.

Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Help kick off the 18th Anniversary of PolarFest! Join us at the Opening Ceremony where Supernova Fireworks has kindly sponsored an epic fireworks show! While you're there, enjoy a bonfire, hot chocolate and coffee courtesy of our gracious hosts Chemong Lodge.

Be sure to book your reservations for Chemong Lodge's Fondue Friday!

Candlelight Skate (TBD)

Location: Ontario Speed Skating Oval at 3358 Lakefield Road, Lakefield

Lakefield Trail Night Hike (7:30PM to 9:00PM)

Location: Marshland Centre at 64 Hague Boulevard, Lakefield

Join the Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee for the Nature in Winter Guided Night Hike on the Lakefield Trail. Afterwards, enjoy hot apple cider!

Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game (8:00PM to 9:30PM)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

Come out and cheer on the local O.P.P. detachment versus the Selwyn Township Firefighters in a friendly rivalry on the ice.

Admission by non-perishable food donation or cash donation. Proceeds will be split between the Lakefield Food Bank and the Bridgenorth Food Bank.

FREE Drive-Thru Pancake Breakfast (9:00AM to 11:00AM)

Location: Causeway Christian Assembly at 1307 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Come out and enjoy a FREE drive-thru pancake breakfast at the Causeway Christian Assembly located at the top of the hill above the causeway. Event is FREE but donations are welcome. 

Ice Sculptures in Bridgenorth (9:00AM to 4:00PM)

Location: Heritage Park at 804 Ward Street, Bridgenorth

Stroll through Heritage Park in Bridgenorth to enjoy the ice creations by local ice sculptors. Bring the kids out and build a creation using the coloured blocks provided. 

Enjoy FREE hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Chemung Lake & District Lions Club from 10:00AM to 2:00PM!

Winter Craft & Hot Chocolate with the Ennismore Youth Group (9:30AM to 12 Noon)

Location: Ennismore Optimist Hall (under the Ennismore Library) at 545 Ennis Road, Ennismore

Get creative and enjoy FREE winter crafting while sipping hot chocolate, hosted by the Ennismore Youth Group.

PolarFest Scavenger Hunt (10:00AM to 2:00PM)

Location: Bridgenorth Library at 836 Charles Street, Bridgenorth

Our polar bears are roaming the library inside and out! Can you help us find them? Visit the Bridgenorth Library to get a hunt sheet, find the bears and be entered into a special draw for a polar themed prize.

Lakefield Ice Sculpture Competition (11:00AM to 4:00PM)

Location: Cenotaph Park at the corner of Water Street and Bridge Street in Lakefield

The Ice Sculpture Competition is back in Lakefield at Cenotaph Park! We looking forward to the sparkle of the sculptures once again. Stop by and take in the amazing Retro TV creations and cast your ballot! Thank you to the local businesses and organizations for your support and generosity.

Beavertails (11:00AM to 5:00pm)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

The ever-popular Beavertails food truck will be joining us and serving up their famous pastries for PolarFest weekend!

Nordic Snowshoe Day (12 Noon to 3:00PM)
Location: Ontario Speed Skating Oval at 3358 Lakefield Road, Lakefield

Adventure Outfitters will be providing those interested with the opportunity to try out snowshoeing! Stop by Adventure Outfitters at 1828 8th Line, Lakefield and their staff will fit you in the proper equipment. Head over to the Oval and enjoy the groomed trail.

80s Retro Apres Ski Party (12 Noon to 4:00PM)
Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Straight out of the movie Ski School. Enjoy an ice bar and booze luge, and fire pits. Prizes for best dressed and complimentary beverage for all those in costume!

Public Skating (12 Noon to 1:00PM)

Location: Lakefield-Smith Community Centre at 20 Concession Street, Lakefield 

Polar Paddle (1:00PM)

Location: Queen Street, Lakefield

Cruise down Queen Street in Lakefield by way of a canoe on wheels powered by your friends! The streets are lined with the community cheering you on. Put a team together and register for the event! Trophy and prizes will be awarded to the winner of each division. *Note: canoes will be provided.

Cost: $40.00 per team

Spaghetti Dinner (4:30PM to 7:00PM)

Location: Bridgenorth United Church at 832 Charles Street, Bridgenorth 

Top off your Saturday PolarFest fun with a Musical Spaghetti Dinner at the Bridgenorth United Church. Enjoy a great meal and be entertained by the Tarnished Angels (on stage from 4:30PM to 6:30PM)

Cost: $15.00 per person. FREE for children aged 6 or under. 

Polar Wine Pairing (5:00PM to 8:00PM)

Enjoy a wine, cheese and chocolate pairing with a WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Certified Expert! 

Cost: $50.00 per person. Price includes charcuterie, chocolate and wine tastings.

Frosty 5K Run (beginning at 9:00AM)

Location: Service Ontario Building at 133 Water Street, Lakefield

Come and brave the cold for 5km of beautiful riverside trail. 

Embrace the chill at the Frosty 5K, a winter run set to unlock the thrill of running amidst the frosty trails of Lakefield! This race is not about winning, but testing your limits in the dead of winter. *this is not a chipped event

All proceeds will be in support of the Lakefield Food Bank.

Cost: $15.00 per person with option to donate additional funds.

The Together Breakfast (9:00AM to 1:00pm)

Location: Upper level of the Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

The Together Breakfast is for all, all ages and all abilities, to meet in support of the Barrier-free Playground, Jude’s Joy. Our pancake and sausage breakfast (cash only) will be sponsored, prepared and served by multiple community partners and local personalities, including MPP Dave Smith and his travelling pancake flippin’ crew! Pancakes and play should be for everyone!

Cost (cash only):

  • Ages 13 and over - $8.00 per person
  • Children (ages 6 to 12) - $5.00 per person
  • Children under 6 - FREE

Antique & Vintage Snowmobile Show (10:00AM to 3:00PM)

Location: Rotary Park at 1495 Yankee Line, Ennismore

The Antique and Classic Snowmobile Club of Canada will have a display of snowmobiles from days gone by at Rotary Park in Ennismore. All vintage snowmobile enthusiasts are welcome to come out and display their snowmobiles. All snowmobiles welcome!

Polar Plunge (beginning at 2:00PM)

Location: Rotary Park at 1495 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Take the plunge in support of local charities and the BEL Rotary club! This year's theme is “Retro TV.Raise money for your favourite charity and the work of BEL Rotary. As in previous years, all donations will be a 50/50 split. Enbridge will be on-site providing hot chocolate!
