Electric Vehicles (EV)
In 2022, Selwyn Township purchased its first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) for use within the Building & Planning Department. This was originally leased using federal funding through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) Green Municipal Fund.
A second PHEV has been purchased in 2023 for use by the Building & Planning Department, helping to further reduce the Township's reliance on fossil fuels and lower operating and maintenance costs association with the municipal fleet.

Charged for Change Program
The Township was one of the communities selected to receive funding to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers through the Charged for Change Program, a partnership between Aviva Canada and Earth Day Canada.
Six Level 2 EV chargers will be installed at four locations in the Township in 2023. The chargers will be located at the Selwyn Township Municipal Office, Ennismore Community Centre, Bridgenorth Community Hall, and The River Den. The new chargers will help support a transition to electric vehicles in our community.
