On behalf of Selwyn Township and our residents, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Hydro One and the incredible utility crews from near and far who have been working tirelessly in our community. Their swift response, hard work, and unwavering dedication have not gone unnoticed. Teams have been working around the clock, often in extremely challenging conditions, to restore power to our homes and businesses. We recognize the personal sacrifices made, as many have left their own families and communities behind to assist us in our time of need. We are truly grateful for their commitment.
In addition, we extend heartfelt thanks to all our front-line workers who have gone above and beyond during this time. To our firefighters, paramedics, police officers, public works and parks and recreation staff who have been helping clear brush and debris from Township roads, your tireless efforts are keeping our community safe and helping restore order.
To our administrative staff, library staff and volunteers who have been fielding inquiries and providing support behind the scenes, and to our landfill staff who help direct and assist residents, thank you for being a steady hand through this recovery process. We also wish to recognize the incredible spirit of community shown by our neighbours, volunteers, and local groups who have offered their time, services, food, or assistance to those in need. Your compassion and willingness to help one another exemplify what it means to be part of Selwyn Township.
Though the work is ongoing, we already see the remarkable impact of these collective efforts. The skill, resilience, and professionalism demonstrated by everyone involved offer comfort and hope in this challenging time. Beyond restoring infrastructure, you’ve helped restore our sense of community.
We are also grateful for the positive economic impact brought by the utility workers and other support personnel. By staying in local accommodations, dining in our restaurants, and supporting our businesses, your presence has provided a much-needed boost during a difficult period.
Once again, thank you to Hydro One, to every utility crew member, and to all our front-line heroes, staff, volunteers, and residents who have contributed in big and small ways. Your perseverance, courage, and kindness mean more than words can express. Selwyn Township is stronger because of you.
With heartfelt thanks,
Sherry Senis
Mayor of Selwyn Township
